Yankees ‘In On Everyone’ Including Multiple $100-Plus Million Superstars, Per Insider
The New York Yankees are all in to bring superstar Juan Soto back to the Bronx this offseason.
Soto is projected to land a contract anywhere from $600 million to $700 million this winter and the Yankees are expected to keep up with the contract offers until they either land him or he signs elsewhere. New York won’t be coming up shy with the money in the Soto sweepstakes.
But a team can’t go into the offseason and bank on signing one player. Soto has a multitude of different suitors, so there’s no guarantee that he will re-sign with the Yankees.
Outside of Soto, what do the Yankees plan to do?
Jon Heyman of the New York Post has reported that the Yankees are “In on everybody” including a few star pitchers.
“The Yankees are “in on everyone.” That includes Blake Snell, Corbin Burnes, and Max Fried, plus top relievers. Though most of the stars become more serious options if Soto isn’t re-signed,” Heyman wrote.
As Heyman notes, these stars won’t become serious options unless Soto opts to go elsewhere. If Soto leaves the Yankees, we could see New York kick off it’s backup plan which could include one or two star pitchers, a few trades, and a couple of other free agents.
Still, even if Soto returns, there’s a world where the Bronx Bombers can find the short-term money to sign Blake Snell or the longer-term money to sign Max Fried. It would be much easier for the Yankees to do so if they moved Marcus Stroman and got his money off their books.
