WWE Star Braun Strowman Defies Injuries to Attend NASCAR with Rey Mysterio

WWE Superstar Braun Strowman made an appearance at the NASCAR South Point 400 despite being recently sidelined by a torn groin. The race, held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway as part of the NASCAR Cup Series, featured Strowman and fellow WWE superstar Rey Mysterio waving the green flag to officially start the race.

Strowman being at the NASCAR event is surprising given his injury, sustained in a “Last Monster Standing Match” on WWE Raw against Bronson Reed, where he won the fight. The match ended dramatically with Seth Rollins delivering a strong stomp to Reed using the steel steps.

Despite the injury, a moment of sportsmanship followed as Strowman and Rollins exchanged a show of mutual respect, applauded by the audience.

Strowman, known outside the ring as Adam Scherr, has been competitive in WWE, with accolades such as the WWE Universal Champion being a highlight of his career.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer confirmed the injury at the time.

“I did get it confirmed,” he said (below) “Braun Strowman got hit by Bronson Reed with a Samoan Drop. Braun Strowman grabbed his thigh/groin area, and then they were gonna do a spot where he knocked Bronson Reed off the apron through some chairs.

“And man, this guy starts running, and I knew immediately this guy’s hurt.”

According to Healthline, it can take over 4 months for such an injury to heal.

Rey Mysterio, alongside Strowman this weekend in Vegas, is another celebrated figure in WWE. Born Óscar Gutiérrez Rubio, Mysterio has carved a legendary path. His attendance at the NASCAR event was shared across social media platforms, where he posted pictures of the day’s highlights.

There’s a tradition in NASCAR that a celebrity can join the race in some form or another. Recently, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson served as the grand marshal at NASCAR’s Daytona 500, keeping the fans going while the race was delayed by poor weather Similarly, DJ Khaled joined the star-studded event as an honorary starter. There seems to be no shortage of celebrities eager to join the sport.
