‘Worst in the league’ – Frank Lampard taunts Manchester United
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard didn’t hold back in his assessment of Manchester United’s performance after their 1-1 draw against the Blues at Old Trafford on Sunday.
In a heated match, United took the lead through a second-half penalty by Bruno Fernandes before Chelsea leveled with a strike from Moises Caicedo.
The draw saw United slip further, staying in 13th place, while Chelsea moved up to third, edging out Arsenal on goal difference. Lampard, known for his sharp insights, described United’s pressing as the “worst in the league,” suggesting they lacked the coordination needed to dominate.
“Manchester United were there for the taking; they are probably the worst pressing team in the league,” Lampard commented, as reported by Sportskeeda. The former Chelsea manager further criticised the Red Devils’ lack of tactical unity in their pressing approach, a weakness that has been evident in recent games.
The season has been a struggle for United, who have won only three of their last ten Premier League matches. This poor form recently led to the dismissal of manager Erik ten Hag following a defeat to West Ham. United now face Noah in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, aiming to regain their footing.
As United attempt to bounce back, Lampard’s remarks add pressure to a team that has yet to find its rhythm in a challenging season.
