Woman Making Husband’s Mistress and Affair Baby ‘Homeless’ Cheered
A woman’s decision to effectively make her husband’s mistress and their affair baby homeless has been applauded online.
Cheating is a painful reality for many men and women across the U.S. A 2022 YouGov survey of 2,000 U.S. adults found that 54 percent of respondents who have ever been in a monogamous relationship say they have been cheated on.
Maybe that’s why so many were quick to side with one 40-year-old woman, with many feeling her extreme action was more than justified after discovering the depth of her soon-to-be-ex husband’s deceit.
In a Reddit post shared under the handle u/MonthFar2068, she described how, up until recently, she had considered her marriage of 10 years to be a “loving and happy” one.
“I make furniture and make around €1M ($1.07 million) a year,” she wrote. “My husband is a teacher. It goes without saying that I provide for us… we have a big house, nice cars and lots of art. Everything is mine however.”
That happiness was shattered, however, when she discovered that he was not only cheating on her with a 25-year-old woman but had also gotten her pregnant.
To make matters worse, one day recently the woman turned up on her doorstep while her husband was on vacation.
“She told me she was his girlfriend and that he was getting a divorce so she might as well live in his house and I could live in a hotel because I could afford it,” she said.
According to the post, the woman told her she “didn’t have any money or home” and “refused” to leave the house after several requests to do so.
The Redditor’s response was to call the police.
“They escorted her out,” she wrote. “I was very shaken.”
Her actions drew criticism from her mother-in-law who slammed her for “kicking out a little baby on the street.”
However, Kathryn Allen, a Licensed Professional Counselor with nationwide mental health company Thriveworks, felt that ultimately both the wife and girlfriend in this particular scenario were “victims of manipulation.”
“The wife was not wrong for having her husband’s mistress and child removed from the home she owns and lives in,” Allen told Newsweek. “She does not have to display acts of empathy towards someone who is a stranger to her, and who approached her with hostility and entitlement.”
She added: “The husband should be held accountable for being dishonest to his wife and his girlfriend. He was responsible for how his girlfriend was living and the child they created together. That had nothing to do with the wife.”
Ultimately, Allen felt an adult conversation involving all three parties was required.
“This will give the husband the space and opportunity to be honest with everyone in this situation, and be responsible for the chaos in these two women’s lives that he created,” she said. “Both women also should decide if this is an individual that is worth more of their time and mental capacity.”
Many on Reddit backed the woman’s actions, urging her to cut all ties with her husband rather than contemplate any form of communication.
“You don’t need to entertain his explanations. It’s just going to distress you more and there’s nothing he could ever say to make you feel better,” one user wrote. “Personally, I would pack up his sh**, leave it out, change the locks, pick an intermediary for you guys to talk to and block him.”
A second commented: “Imagine going to someone else house and tell to that person that can go to live in a hotel. The level of audacity!”
A third said: “You are not responsible for your husbands affair child and the way she showed up and was expecting you to just leave is entitled and disrespectful.”
