Woman Goes To Bed Crying, Hearts Melt At What Dog Brings Her: ‘Feel Better’
While they may not entirely understand every word of what we’re saying to them, dogs can surely tell the way we’re feeling, and act accordingly.
A dog called Hektor has melted hearts on social media after his owner shared his reaction when he saw her crying on the bed by herself.
The viral video shared on TikTok on Tuesday, under the username hekkigram, shows the small dog looking concerned, leaning his head sideways, as he sits on his owner’s bed, watching her cry.
“POV: You go to bed crying and your dog brings the treat he stashed away to make you feel better,” the caption reads.
The poster, 31-year-old, Laura Tracey, from Hampshire told Newsweek that Hektor is her best friend and has provided her with emotional support through her struggles with chronic pain and mental health.
“In the clip, I collapsed into bed crying due to a stressful situation which has severely impacted my mental health. He went to find his treat that he had stashed away and brought it to me, dropping it on the edge of his basket as if he were giving it to me to cheer me up,” she said.
Dogs are able to tell how their owners are feeling just by looking at their faces. In fact, if you pay attention to your pet, they will probably wag their tail when you smile at them!
VCA Animal Hospitals explains that a recent UK study by the University of Lincoln performed a series of experiments to test dogs’ ability to recognize facial expressions, and it turns out that they’re very good at it.
The dogs taking part in the test were shown 12 images of people with different facial expressions: two of a person and a dog looking negative or angry, two looking neutral, and two looking positive or smiling, and found out that they showed different responses to the different facial expressions.
“Dogs are so focused on our faces that they respond differently when they cannot see us,” the website added.
The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 17,400 views and 1900 likes on the platform.
One user, Sam, commented: “He’s gorgeous what mix /breed is he I just love his little face.”
Suki16423 said: “Aww, they hate to see us upset don’t they, bless him.”
Kathryn ‘Affie’ Lake added: “Awww. My Pippin used to bring me his favourite Teddy when I was upset. Dogs are the best.”
