Wife Wakes Up To Find Letter From Husband of 11 Years Revealing ‘My Truth’

A man left his wife a surprising letter about “his truth” after a decade of marriage—but it is not what you might think.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Joy wrote that she woke up to find an envelope ominously labeled “to my wife.” Inside was the admission that her husband Fred would be completely unavailable to her and their child during the opening night for the New York Knicks 2024-2025 season.

“Ladies … choose yourself,” Joy wrote. “I woke up to this nonsense after almost 11 years of marriage.”

The post has been viewed over 47.9 million times since it was shared to the account @JoyyUnSpeakable on October 22. Joy, 36, spoke to Newsweek about the letter’s contents.

“You mean the world to me,” Fred began the letter. “However I owe it to myself as well as you to be completely honest with you. I have to come forward with my truth…. from 7:00 PM (that’s when pregame starts) to whatever time the game ends I will not be a husband or a father. Y’all are on your own for a couple of hours.”

Joy said when she first saw the envelope, she thought it might be a gift for her.

“At first, I thought he left me a spa gift certificate or something sweet, but when I opened the letter, I became nervous,” she said. “I instantly wondered if I did something wrong.”

Joy said she knew Fred wasn’t having an affair or anything serious, but she still felt the anticipation of the unknown. When the purpose of the letter was revealed, she couldn’t contain herself.

“I know my husband is a simple man, enjoys peace and loves his family. As I continued to read it, I laughed out loud. He’s very serious about his Knicks,” she said.

Fred told her the letter was originally a text, but he wanted to print it out to “make it official.”

Despite certain boundaries in the note—”I will not get you something sweet,” he wrote—he did, in fact, get Joy some ice cream on his way home from work. And he watched the game with Joy, their child and their dog.

What Was Social Media’s Response?

X users also found the letter entertaining.

“Not even for something sweet to eat? You think you know a guy,” one joked.

Another wrote: “Lmao this is funny, but what is it with men and sports that makes them get like this? I don’t understand, it’s weird.”

And one user said: “Not gonna lie I was NOT expecting that it had me going the first half. Kudos to you both for having a fun marriage and messing with each other. You need to get him back tho and get us a Part 2!”

Joy said the letter represented how “extra” the two can be in their relationship in order to have a good laugh.

“We laugh and joke a lot in our marriage and we troll each other often,” she said. “We are so unfiltered. I love the fact that we can share sarcasm and jokes with each other.

“I always wanted a marriage like the one in the shows My Wife and Kids and Martin. Our marriage isn’t perfect, but our friendship is what keeps us together. He’s my best friend.”
