The influence a mentor can have on a team has been made evident by Gautam Gambhir’s inclusion to Kolkata Knight Riders before the start of the season. KKR has suddenly come out all guns blazing in IPL 2024 and have already reached the final of the tournament. While KKR’s form has left a lot of them shocked, Gautam Gambhir believed in the team right from get go. In fact, in his first speech after joining KKR, Gambhir talked about being present in Chennai on May 26 for the final.
In his speech, Gambhir discussed the value of a strong team dynamic, the significance of playing for a reputable team like KKR, and the equal rights of every player in the setup.
“We start the season from today. Whether it is physically, mentally, or skill wise, give everything possible. It’s a very, very proud and a successful franchise, You guys are representing a very successful franchise. Make sure you train that way, you play that way, and you carry that attitude on the field,” he said.

So people who have played with me, know one thing, that everyone in this group will be treated equally. There’s no senior/junior. No domestic/international because we have got one mission and that is to win the IPL. So, everyone needs to follow that one simple path. On 26th May, we should be there, giving everything possible. And it starts from today,” the former KKR skipper had said.
