Vikings Safety Camryn Bynum Has Put Extraordinarily High Expectations On Minnesota’s 2024 Season
The goal of any team when a season starts is to win the championship. It’s a simple fact that each team talks about but in reality, there are only a handful of teams that can truly compete for a title.
Especially in the NFL, the top-heavy teams tend to have more of a chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy up at the end of the year. This year, the Kansas City Chiefs will have a massive target on their backs after winning the last two Super Bowls.

While there are teams that always surprise around the league each season, generally, we know who the title contenders are entering the year. And heading into the 2024 season, the Minnesota Vikings aren’t one of them.
While the Vikings are expecting to take a step forward this season, not many are viewing them as a true contender in the NFC. But don’t tell Minnesota safety Camryn Bynum that, as he is placing some extraordinarily high expectations on his team this season. Bynum expects the Vikings to win the Super Bowl this season.
“I expect a Super Bowl. Everybody says that, and everybody should say that,” he said. “But you look at the guys on the team, you look at the locker room, all the experience we have. Look how much depth we have, especially on the defense. So many guys. It’s almost weird looking around, you’re like, OK how are we all going to get on the field? There’s just so many ballers.”
The Vikings let veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins walk in free agency and replaced him with veteran San Darnold and rookie J.J. McCarthy. Minnesota isn’t even expected to be a favorite for the NFC North division this season, so the expectations that Bynum has are very bold.
It’s good that he doesn’t lack confidence. Maybe the Vikings can shock the entire football world. But any chance that the Vikings have will be based on how well the quarterbacks play. Bynum, however, isn’t worried and he believes that the Minnesota offense will be explosive this year.
“You look at the offense,” Bynum said. “There’s a baller at every position when you look across the whole board. That’s why I’m confident when I say I expect us to be a Super Bowl team. But really, our preparation has to tell it all. You say that every year. Every team says that every year, but we have to put all these names and everything. We have to make it real.”

Minnesota isn’t too far removed from being one of the better teams in the NFC, but the Vikings will have to earn their way back toward the top. If either Darnold or McCarthy can take that step forward, maybe the Vikings can turn things around. We won’t know until the games are played but for now, this all seems like a nicely concocted dream for Minnesota.
