Veiga Set To Undergo Medical At Chelsea
Portuguese defender Renato Veiga is set to undergo medical as new Chelsea player, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist revealed that Veiga is to sign contract valid until June 2032.
He added that Chelsea will pay €14m to Basel and there will be no add-ons or sell-on.
Veiga, 20, who is a defensive midfielder can also play as a central defender or fullback.
Since his appointment as new Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca has wasted no time in making alterations to the squad he has inherited from predecessor Mauricio Pochettino.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been Chelsea’s most expensive acquisition during the early stages of the summer transfer window, having completed a £30million switch earlier this week.

But co-owner Todd Boehly has given the green-light to spend more cash ahead of the August 30 deadline.
Veiga showed plenty of versatility during the 2023/24 campaign for Basel as he featured in midfield and the heart of the backline over the course of 26 appearances.
This has promoted Chelsea to move quickly to strike a deal as plans have been put in place to remain active in the summer window.
Meanwhile, it is understood that Basel will not retain a sell-on clause as part of the acquisition of the Portugal U-21 international.
Also, the Blues have structured the deal in a way which means they will not be needing to pay add-ons if their incoming talent goes on to enjoy a successful career at Stamford Bridge.
