There’s plenty to keep you entertained in this sprawling 215-room hotel less than two miles from Manchester airport. Spend some time in its leisure centre, working out in its large gym, or taking a dip in its 20-metre indoor pool before relaxing in the whirlpool tub, steam room, sauna and plunge pool. If that sounds like too much effort pre-holiday, there are also two independently-run restaurants that attract locals as well as hotel guests – a chic Italian, San Carlo Fiorentina, and a French restaurant, Brasserie Blanc. A shuttle bus runs between the hotel and airport from 3am to 11pm. Outside of these hours, taxis cost around £12.
