‘Simply awesome’ – NFF President Ibrahim Gusau praises ValueJet crew for exemplary conduct in Libya
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has expressed deep appreciation for the ValueJet Airlines crew for their professionalism and compassion during the Federation’s challenging trip to Libya.
Gusau made the statement on Tuesday, highlighting the crew’s crucial role in making the journey less difficult for the Nigerian delegation.
Gusau, who personally led the NFF delegation, praised Captain Abdul-Latif and his team for their patience, diligence, and exceptional service during the mission. He noted that the captain’s experience and professionalism were instrumental in easing the challenges faced by the team.
“Captain Abdul-Latif Was Outstanding” – Gusau
“The captain and his crew were simply awesome,” Gusau stated. “At one point, the captain intervened to speak with airport officials, requesting permission for NFF leaders to leave the airport to arrange transport for the team. His intervention made a significant difference.”
Gusau also highlighted an incident where Abdul-Latif, a Tunisian national with prior experience working in Libya, was offered hotel accommodation by local authorities. However, the hotels had reportedly received orders not to admit anyone with Nigerian nationality. In a remarkable show of solidarity, the captain refused the accommodation and chose instead to sleep in the aircraft with the rest of the crew.
Appreciation for ValueJet Airlines
Gusau lauded the maturity and kindness displayed by the ValueJet crew throughout the ordeal. “We will never forget the warmth and endurance they showed. The captain’s professionalism and dedication were inspiring, and we appreciate their efforts in every way,” he said.
The NFF president’s remarks underscore the difficulties faced during the trip and highlight the essential role of cooperation and empathy in difficult situations. Gusau’s commendation reflects the gratitude of the Nigerian football community towards the ValueJet crew, whose exemplary conduct provided much-needed support during a challenging time.
