Rohit and Kohli lead a heartfelt rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ in India’s victory lap at Wankhede
The Indian team’s return home after a T20 World Cup triumph was halted by the onset of hurricane Beryl in the Caribbean islands. Beating South Africa by seven runs in a nail-biting final, the Indian team boarded a chartered flight, organised by the BCCI on July 3. On landing in New Delhi, the unit was welcomed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a special breakfast followed by an open bus victory parade in Mumbai.
A Plethora of crowd jampacked in Marine Drive, awaiting the Champions’ arrival in the afternoon. As the Indian team bus with the Champions tag headed for a parade, Rohit Sharma and co. received heartwarming reactions from the fans. During the proceedings, the Indian team also marched around the Wankhede stadium in a victory lap, singing the national song Vande Mataram.
