Rivers Hoopers star eyes improved performance

As the 2024 African Basketball League (BAL) playoffs approach, Rivers Hoopers’ center Victor Anthony Koko has highlighted crucial areas for improvement ahead of their campaign in Kigali.

The Nigerian champions will face AS Douanes of Senegal in a classification game, and Koko pointed out the importance of strengthening their defense.

“For me, defense wins championship games,” Koko stated. “In those first three games, we played with a tough defense, but after securing the fourth win, our mindset shifted to having already qualified, which affected our performance in the last two games. We need to improve on our defense.”

Reflecting on their upcoming match, Koko noted, “This is the third game against AS Douanes. I’m not one to make bold predictions, but I believe in playing our game. I know at the end we are going to come out victorious,” he told Brila FM radio.

The Rivers Hoopers will need to refocus and enhance their defensive strategy to advance successfully in the BAL playoffs, aiming to showcase their best performance in Kigali.
