A Premier League footballer is currently under investigation following serious allegations of rape and other sexual offences involving three women.
The player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was questioned by the police last Thursday. The individual, identified as being in his 30s and residing in London, was initially arrested in July 2022 at a location in West London on suspicion of rape.
Since then, the scope of the investigation has broadened, with reported incidents occurring between 2021 and 2023. Despite the ongoing inquiry, the international footballer has continued to play for his club.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated that they are looking into multiple reports of alleged sexual offences from 2021 to 2023.
The player has been interviewed under caution on several occasions since his arrest. According to reports, the investigation encompasses allegations of rape from two women, as well as separate sexual offences concerning a third woman.
The timeline indicates a disturbing pattern, with one alleged incident occurring in April 2021 and another in February 2022. However, authorities have noted that no further action will be taken regarding an alleged offence from June 2021 due to legislative limitations at the time.
The police have characterized the investigation as “in-depth and detailed,” and it remains ongoing. Meanwhile, the women involved are receiving support from specialized officers within the Metropolitan Police.
