RCB vs DC | Twitter abuzz as Delhi Capitals’ fielders fumble easy catches granting Jacks-Patidar a series of lifelines
Fielding is not just about stopping the ball; it’s about saving runs and building pressure on the opposition. Unfortunately, Delhi Capitals couldn’t replicate this against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as their fielders endured a spell of sloppy fielding coupled with several dropped catches.
Winning the toss worked well for the Delhi Capitals as they managed to dismiss RCB openers Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli in the powerplay. However, Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar steadied the Bengaluru batting scoring 87/2 in eight overs. The duo also took great advantage of the poor fielding from the visitors where they missed easy catches and gave the batters lifelines.
The fielding debacle began in the ninth over bowled by Kuldeep Yadav, with Axar Patel and Shai Hope missing straightforward catches, visibly frustrating the Indian spinner. The troubles continued as Tristan Stubbs failed to hold onto a simple chance in the 10th over when Will Jacks mistimed a shot towards extra cover. To compound matters, Delhi’s stand-in skipper dropped another catch, giving Patidar yet another lifeline at cover. In totality, the home side missed four easy catches within the gap of three overs.
As the flurry of poor fielding unfolded, the Twitterverse was left in shock by the Capitals’ uncharacteristic display.
What’s going on?
Too many
So many catch drops by DC players today and intentionally they are leaving boundaries, RCB owner match fixing time to ban this RCB 🤬👊🏻#RCBvDC pic.twitter.com/aZuMNssWBw

Fixed?

I think it’s RCB whose matches are getting #Fixed. So many Catch dropped by PBKS that day, helped RCB to put a High Total. And Delhi Capitals are repeating the same script.— g0v!ñD $#@®mA (@rishu_1809) May 12, 2024
