Ravens Pro Bowl Defender Surprisingly Ruled Out vs Steelers

Baltimore Ravens safety and two-time Pro Bowl player Eddie Jackson has been ruled out for Week 11, according to a team social media post. He will not face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers, apparently for non-injury-related reasons, and is not traveling with the team.

It is currently unknown exactly why Jackson will not be playing or traveling with the team as they face off against the Steelers in a crucial turning point for the season.

The AFC North division has essentially become a two-team race between the Ravens and Steelers, with their head-to-head matchups set to play a pivotal role in the outcome. This game marks Pittsburgh’s first AFC North contest of the season, while the Ravens are already 2-1 within the division.

With a challenging schedule ahead, the Steelers will face the Ravens again in Week 16 in Baltimore. Both teams are highly motivated to secure a win, knowing it could provide a crucial advantage as they enter the final seven weeks of the season.

Jackson has played in nine games and made four starts for the Ravens this season, recording 30 tackles and one pass defense. Safety Kyle Hamilton suffered an ankle injury in Week 10 but practiced throughout the week and is expected to play on Sunday. The other safeties on the Ravens’ 53-man roster include Marcus Williams, Ar’Darius Washington, Sanoussi Kane, and Beau Brade.

Jackson was drafted by the Bears in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Alabama. His rookie season was impressive, as he earned a starting role and displayed his knack for creating turnovers, leading to his Pro Bowl selection in 2018. That year, Jackson had a career-defining season, earning First-Team All-Pro honors after leading the NFL with 6 interceptions and returning 2 of them for touchdowns.

In 2019, Jackson was named a starter for the 2020 Pro Bowl. In Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings, Jackson sealed a 21-19 Bears victory by intercepting a pass from Sean Mannion and returning it 14 yards as time expired and in 2020, the Bears signed Jackson to a four-year, $58.4 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid safety in the NFL at the time.

The Ravens signed Jackson to a one-year deal in July, following his release from the Chicago Bears on February 15. The Bears made the move to free up salary cap space. A foot injury has limited Jackson in each of the past three seasons, but he still managed to play in at least 12 games per year from 2021 to 2022.
