Puppy Hilariously Goes From Adorable to ‘Baby Shark’ in 2 Months
A video of the “calmest” puppy with a seemingly unstoppable urge to “bite everything” has left TikTok users in stitches.
The clip was shared by @tuckerontiktok, the TikTok account of a corgi dog in New York City. Since it was shared on April 25, the video has had over 881,000 views.
A message overlaid on it reads, “I used to be the tiniest, sweetest, calmest puppy.” The footage shows Tucker standing on the chest of a man lying on a sofa, caressing the man’s chin with his nose.
A subsequent message says “2 months later,” before the clip shows the dog, appearing to have grown, lying on the man on the sofa and attempting to bite his face and hands.
A caption shared with the post reads: “These teeth only get sharper.”
As feisty as the pup’s biting ways may seem, “this is normal behavior” for puppies, noted veterinarians Courtney Barnes, Krista Williams and Richard Lerner in an article for VCA Animal Hospitals.
“Dogs learn much about the world around them through how things feel, and they primarily use their mouth to touch and grab things,” they said.
Puppies that are teething may also exhibit perpetual biting, similar to the way human babies go through a teething process as they grow new teeth.
Teething in puppies starts at around three weeks of age, and at about the sixth-week mark, all their deciduous teeth, or baby teeth, will have come out. The incisors at the front of the mouth and the canine teeth (also known as “the fangs”) grow first before the premolars.
The deciduous teeth start falling out at around 12 weeks of age, and the permanent teeth start emerging. Our canine friends have 28 deciduous teeth and up to 42 permanent teeth. The veterinarians noted that typically, by around six months of age, all permanent teeth will have emerged while all deciduous teeth have fallen out.
The ‘Baby Shark’ Stage
Users on TikTok could relate to the latest viral clip and adored the pup’s biting antics.
User @ampersandalli wrote: “Ah yes… the baby shark / velociraptor stage.”
TikToker Dk noted: “So all corgis have a shark/dinosaur phase.”
Another user wrote, “lol yup piranha phase they just want to bite everything lol. mine is 6 months and now she is on her vacuuming everything in the floor phase.”
“From couch cuddles to couch chaos,” Lovesac wrote.
