Ola Aina reveals Moses Simon as Super Eagles’ toughest player to defend against
Nottingham Forest fullback Ola Aina has identified Moses Simon as the most challenging opponent to defend against within the Super Eagles camp.
Aina, who has established himself as an essential figure for both club and country, shared his insights during a recent interview on the Counter Attack podcast.
Despite his experience dealing with talented wingers, the versatile defender pointed to Simon’s unique combination of speed and sharpness as what sets him apart. “To defend against, probably Moses Simon,” Aina admitted. “I wouldn’t say he’s unpredictable because you sort of know what he’s going to do. But his sharpness makes him really difficult to deal with.”
Aina, who has impressed for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this season, helping extend their unbeaten run away from home with a recent win over Leicester City, praised Simon’s agility and quickness. “He’s so sharp off the mark,” Aina added, acknowledging that even though defenders might anticipate Simon’s moves, his execution leaves little time to react.
Moses Simon, who plays for FC Nantes in France, has been a key contributor this season, registering two goals and three assists in just eight league appearances. Known for his blistering pace and ability to break through defences, Simon continues to be a crucial part of the Super Eagles’ attack.
Aina’s comments offer a glimpse into the competitive nature of the Super Eagles’ training sessions, where top players like Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze, and Moses Simon push their teammates to improve. As Aina navigates his Premier League campaign, he remains an important member of Nigeria’s squad, bringing valuable experience and versatility to the national team.
With both Aina and Simon playing pivotal roles for their respective clubs, the Super Eagles will benefit from their form as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures.
