Nigeria’s Flamingos get Liberia hurdle in final round
Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos, is set to face Liberia in the final round of qualifiers for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals.
The Flamingos secured their spot in this round after defeating Burkina Faso 6-0 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to sum a 7-1 aggregate result.
In another qualifying match, Senegal faced Liberia, with Liberia stunningly winning 2-0 in Monrovia.
Despite Senegal being the favorites, Louise Brown scored for Liberia in added time of the first half, followed by a goal from Dalphine Glao nine minutes into the second half.
This victory allowed Liberia to advance to the final round of qualifiers on the away-goal rule.
The first leg of the clash between Liberia and Nigeria will take place on Saturday, June 8th, with Liberia hosting the match.
The return leg is scheduled for a week later at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. Both teams will be vying for a spot in the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup finals.
