New Mom-of-Three Left ‘Mortified’ by What She Mistakenly Wears Outside
A mom-of-three has gone viral after revealing why the unconventional outfit she accidentally left the house wearing had her “mortified.”
Jahlen Johnson, 27, welcomed her youngest child on November 3, and suffice it to say, life with three kids is no picnic. With a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old already, she certainly has her hands full, and sleep is a thing of the past.
One week after having her third baby, Johnson, of Atlanta, Georgia, told Newsweek that she “felt trapped” inside and wanted to go out for a walk. After getting the kids ready, she forgot all about herself and went for a 20-minute walk wearing none other than an adult diaper.
“I waved at several neighbors and even stopped to talk to one, but none of them pointed out my lack of pants,” she said.
After thinking she’d successfully navigated a walk with all three kids, Johnson decided to take things even further by going on a trip to Walmart. She packed up the car, got the children inside and they were ready to go—still, sans pants.
While she wandered the aisles of Walmart, not a single person said anything about her outfit, or lack thereof.
“When we got home from Walmart, I was so tired from being out I just needed a shower. I handed off the kids to my husband, and when I went to take my pants off, I realized they were never on,” Johnson continued.
“I ran to tell my husband, and he didn’t believe me. So, I pulled up the camera footage to prove to him that I went out like that and then we were both so shocked.”
Johnson’s husband hadn’t even noticed her attire either, which she says is most likely because he’s just as tired as she is.
In total disbelief at what she’d done, Johnson shared the camera footage of her going outside in an adult diaper in a TikTok post (@jahlen.johnson). She joked that she will “no longer be leaving the house” because she was far too mortified by this mistake.
The clip has left the internet in hysterics, leading to more than 1.3 million views and over 180,900 likes on TikTok in a matter of days. Johnson was initially nervous about posting the video online, but she told Newsweek that she’s been blown away by the support and laughter that it’s generated.
Johnson said: “I’ve never felt so supported by so many strangers. Everyone made me feel so confident and it was really beautiful, especially being postpartum. I also loved all the jokes people made, and how many people found it hilarious.
“Life as a mom of three is completely summed up by that video. The exhaustion I’ve felt this time around is nothing like when I had my older kids. I’ll get to sleep eventually and will miss this (and I’ll be sleeping with pants on),” she told Newsweek.
With more than 4,700 comments on the viral TikTok post at the time of writing, many social media users have lauded Johnson’s understandable error, while others shared their own similar experiences.
One comment reads: “I bet no mom at the store questioned you, they all know the struggles.”
Another person wrote: “The epitome of mom-brain! Thank you for representing all of us. Sorry you had to take one for the team.”
While one TikTok user added: “I think I would cry for the rest of my life, this is traumatic.”
