Minimum player bidding price in IPL 2025 mega auction to be increased to Rs 30 Lakh: Report

The rule is for uncapped players, who used to be get Rs 20 lakh as the minimum bid until the last auction.

It turns out, it wasn’t just the purchasing purse that was increased when the BCCI announced the rules for the IPL 2025 mega auction. The minimum bidding price for players will see a 50% increase in proportion to the team purse being increased by 20% (Rs 100 to 120 crore).

50% increase in minimum player bidding price

At the coming auction, the minimum base price for a player would be at least Rs 30 lakh. Until the last auction, the minimum a team could make was Rs 20 lakh; now that’s been increased by Rs 10 lakh.

This rule change might have been conveyed to the IPL teams, but it’s the first time the general public has heard about the change. According to CricXtasy, the rule will be in effect next month at the IPL 2025 mega auction. This would help the uncapped players. Back in 2014, the cricketers who’d yet to play for India received a starting bid of Rs 10 lakh; 10 years later, it’s increased by a whopping 200%.
