Massive Recognition! Bruno Fernandes sends message to Manchester United fans in Nigeria
Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, has thanked Nigerian fans for their strong support. He wrote a letter to the club’s fans, especially acknowledging those from Nigeria.
In his message on the Player’s Tribune, the 28-year-old midfielder talked directly to Manchester United fans. He remembered his first game at Old Trafford and how quickly the fans accepted him. He was amazed that just three days after he joined the team, fans were already singing his song during halftime.
Fernandes also mentioned fans from all over the world who can’t visit the stadium, specifically highlighting those from Nigeria and Hong Kong. He shared that seeing people wearing his number 8 shirt in distant places always makes him feel special and humble.
“All the people who went for drinks at the bar at halftime were singing my song.”
“I was stunned, because I had only signed three days before! I was thinking, How do they even know I am any good? YouTube? Everybody looks good on YouTube! How did they come up with the lyrics in four days???
“There will always be those who don’t like your football, but 99% of you have only shown me love. To this day, whenever I see someone on the other side of the world wearing my shirt, it gives me such a special feeling. People send me photos from Hong Kong or from Nigeria wearing my number 8 shirt, and every single time, it makes me feel so surprised and humble.
Fernandes moved to Manchester United from Sporting CP in January 2020. He has become a key player and a fan favorite, showing his appreciation for the global support he receives, especially from Nigerian fans.
