Manchester United closing In on Joshua Zirkzee as INEOS’s first summer signing
Manchester United are on the verge of securing a deal for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, marking INEOS’s first transfer business of the summer.
The club has made significant progress, reaching a broad agreement with Zirkzee’s representatives over payment terms.
Negotiations will now shift to Bologna, with United exploring alternatives to the striker’s £34 million release clause, which expires in August. Zirkzee, a 23-year-old Dutch forward also on AC Milan’s radar, is currently focused on the Euro 2024 semifinals with the Netherlands.
United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, has prioritized Zirkzee over other targets like Jonathan David and Ivan Toney, seeking to bolster the striking options alongside Rasmus Hojlund. Zirkzee had an impressive season with Bologna, netting 12 goals and helping the team secure a historic Champions League spot.
In other transfer news, Chelsea have shown interest in Jonathan David, who is available for around £25 million.
Manchester United are hopeful of finalizing the deal soon, adding a potent striker to their squad for the upcoming season.
