LIVE UPDATES: Harris Gets Poll Boost As Race Enters Final Two Weeks
By
Vice President Kamala Harris is currently leading former President Donald Trump in the polls in a 46% to 43% lead, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed Monday. Last week in a similar Reuters/Ipsos poll, Harris held a 45% to 42% lead, which demonstrated the tightness of the race thus far, and like this week’s poll, showed Harris’s lead within the margin of error. Approximately 70% of the registered voters surveyed expressed that their cost of living was not improving, while 60% indicated that they believed the economy was moving in the wrong direction, and 65% felt the same way about immigration policy. Voters expressed that the economy and immigration, along with threats to democracy, were the most pressing issues facing the nation. When asked about which candidate had a more effective strategy on these matters, Trump was ahead on the economy with 46% compared to 38% and on immigration with 48% against 35%.
