Like Nigeria! Black Stars of Ghana travel to Libya for AFCON 2025 qualifier against Sudan
The Black Stars of Ghana have followed their rivals, the Super Eagles of Nigeria, to Libya for a crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier against Sudan.
Ghana departed for Libya on Sunday after their disappointing 0-0 draw with Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium last Thursday. The result left the Black Stars in third place in Group F with only two points, putting pressure on them to secure a win in Libya to improve their chances of qualifying for the AFCON tournament in Morocco next year.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) scheduled Sudan’s home match in Libya because the ongoing civil war in Sudan prevents matches from being played there.
Nigeria also traveled to Libya for their own qualifier, hoping to build on a narrow defeat vs the Mediterranean Knights 1-0, thanks to a goal from Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
