Lauren Boebert Mocked Over Crowd Size at GOP Event

Representative Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican, was mocked online on Sunday over the crowd size she attracted at a GOP event in her home state.

Boebert, one of the more staunchly pro-Trump members of the House GOP caucus, announced in December that she would be running for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District instead of the 3rd District where she has held office since 2021.

Despite her defending the move by saying it’s the “right decision for those who support our conservative movement,” it has been widely viewed as an attempt to avoid lower reelection odds in the 3rd District where she’s facing a notable primary challenge from Republican Jeff Hurd and an even more fraught general election challenge from Democrat Adam Frisch.

On Saturday, Boebert attended a Republican Central committee assembly in Adams County in Brighton, Colorado.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Boebert noted her attendance at the assembly by sharing a few photos and wrote, “Great to be with you today, Adams County GOP!”

Although it is unclear what Boebert spoke about, the event was aimed at voting on Adams County candidate primaries and address bylaw and resolution proposals, according to the Adams County Republican Party website.

Newsweek has reached out to Boebert’s office and the Adams County Republican Party via email for comment.

However since the event, some have taken to X on Sunday to criticize the amount of people who saw the congresswoman speak.

X user Marmel wrote, “Where was this? It’s like Boebert is at a funeral for her own ‘career.'”

Former Democratic fundraiser Jon Cooper wrote, “A rip-roaring campaign rally for @laurenboebert, lol. The MAGA wacko knows she’s done, and it must be killing her.”

While X user CoffeyTimeNews, “1’s of people showed up to listen to Lauren Boebert speak last night. This might be your sign that it’s over for Bobo.”

The Mueller, She Wrote podcast account wrote on X, “That’s really sad that Boebert can’t sell out a 20 seat venue.”

This comes after Boebert’s efforts to win Colorado’s 4th district have since increased following Representative Ken Buck’s announcement earlier this month that he would be departing from his position earlier than expected on March 22 over frustration with his own party.

A straw poll conducted earlier in March found Boebert placing third, behind former state senator and Logan County Commissioner Jerry Sonnenberg and veteran state lawmaker Ted Harvey. Notably, the poll had a relatively low sample size of only 180 voters, meaning it may not be representative of the district as a whole.

Meanwhile, a Kaplan Strategies poll conducted among 558 likely voters on February 24 found the GOP congresswoman with a wide lead above her competitors. The survey showed 32 percent of respondents said they planned to back Boebert, with her closest challenger, state Representative Mike Lynch, receiving only 7 percent support.

In addition, Trump endorsed Boebert earlier this month in a post on Truth Social, his social media platform, and also gave her a shout out during a campaign rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, in which he suggested that she would “do fantastically in [her] district.” While the effectiveness of the former president’s endorsements have been questionable in general races, they have been shown to move the needle considerably for candidates in GOP primary races.
