KKR vs SRH | Twitter reacts as Sunrisers’ impact player Sanvir Singh fails to make an impact leading to golden duck
Numerous players have capitalized on the ‘impact player’ rule, yet some have failed to leave a mark. Sanvir Singh’s entry as an impact player for Sunrisers Hyderabad was anticipated well, but unfortunately, he failed to ignite any fireworks, departing for a golden duck in Qualifier 1 at Ahmedabad.
Losing the toss turned out to be a stroke of luck for the Kolkata Knight Riders, as they swiftly dispatched Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Shahbaz Ahmed inside the powerplay. However, a resilient 62-run partnership between Heinrich Klaasen and Rahul Tripathi propelled the SRH score to 92/4 by the 10th over. Tripathi’s brisk 29-ball fifty provided some hope, but his departure in the 14th over, following Klaasen’s dismissal in the 11th, dampened SRH’s prospects further. With the batting lineup faltering, the Orange Army sent in Sanvir Singh as an impact player, but his innings was disappointingly short-lived.
On the third ball of the 14th over, Sunil Narine delivered a length ball aimed at the middle stump. The 27-year-old Punjab batter attempted to defend, leaning forward but the ball pitched perfectly near the stump, deflecting off his pad and crashing into the stumps. The Caribbean star maintained his trademark composed demeanor after claiming the wicket, while jubilant KKR players celebrated around him.
The Twitterverse showered praise on Narine’s exquisite delivery and engaged in discussions about Sanvir’s performance.
