Kai Sotto limited as Yokohama loses to Nagoya in B.League

MANILA, Philippines — After scoring in double figures for eight straight games, Kai Sotto was limited to just seven points in Yokohama B-Corsairs’ 80-64 loss to Fighting Eagles Nagoya in the 2023-24 B.League season on Wednesday at Nagoya Biwajima Sports Center.

The 7-foot-3 Filipino center committed four fouls in 16 minutes of action, shooting 3-of-7 from the field and tallying three blocks and two rebounds.

Sotto was dominant in the past eight games before he was limited by the Fighting Eagles as the B-Corsairs slid to a 21-25 record.

Aaron Henry led Nagoya with 19 points, while Luke Evans dropped 11 points and 22 rebounds to improve to a 22-24 card.

Meanwhile, Thirdy Ravena delivered the goods for the San-En NeoPhoenix in their 102-83 rout of Seahorses Mikawa at Toyohashi City Gymnasium.

Ravena displayed an all-around game with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists as San-En remained on top of the Central Division with a 37-9 record.

David Dudzinski powered the NeoPhoenix with 20 points, while Coty Clarke backstopped him with 19 points, nine assists, and six rebounds.

In the showdown of Filipino imports, Ray Parks Jr. got the better of Matthew Wright as the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins took down Kyoto Hannaryz, 90-83.

Parks finished with 13 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal against Wright. Takumi Saito had 20 points and seven assists for Nagoya, which remained No.2 in the Western Division with a 29-17 slate. Scott Eatherton had 17 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, while Tim Soares added 19 points and seven rebounds.

Wright had 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block for Kyoto, which dropped to a 13-33 record.

RJ Abarrientos had three points in less than 10 minutes of action in the Shinshu Brave Warriors’ 65-58 loss to Sunrockers Shibuya, sliding to a 6-40 record.

Dwight Ramos also suffered a tough loss in his eight-point performance after Levanga Hokkaido (13-33) fell to Alvark Tokyo, 98-71.

In B2, Roosevelt Adams dropped 20 points and eight rebounds as Yamagata Wyverns edged Iwate, 87-85, to improve to a 26-26 record.

Kiefer Ravena had three points, five rebounds, and three assists in Shiga Lakes’ 93-89 triumph over Kumamoto to stay on top of the Western Division with a 37-15 card.
