‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Says Kamala Harris Needs ‘All the Help She Can Get’
Guest host Lamorne Morris has shared his thoughts on Kamala Harris’s campaign run on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Fargo star is one of several guest hosts to recently step in for the comedian, who is on vacation until September. During Monday night’s show, Morris poked fun at the big political news stories of the week, particularly Joe Biden’s decision to exit the race ahead of November’s general election.
The President was the presumptive Democratic candidate, after winning enough delegate votes in the presidential primaries. However, the 81-year-old had been facing calls to step down due to concerns about his age and mental fitness.
Biden announced his decision to drop out on Sunday, throwing his support behind Vice President Harris. The senator later confirmed she plans to “earn and win” the Democratic party’s nomination.
Morris suggested Donald Trump is worried about Harris running due to her career as an attorney.
“I mean, he’s only lost to Joe Biden once, but he loses to lawyers like, twice a week,” the 40-year-old joked.
Morris was referencing the former president’s ongoing legal struggles. Trump was found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in May, reportedly to cover hush money payments to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 general election.
The adult film star claims that she and the Republican politician had a brief affair in 2006. Alongside the “hush money” lawsuit in New York, Trump is facing charges in Georgia and Washington related to allegations that he attempted to overturn the 2020 general election result.
The 78-year-old was also accused of mishandling and storing “classified documents” at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, after leaving the White House. However, this case was dismissed on July 15.
Despite his legal woes, Morris said Harris will need “All the help she can get” if she’s going to beat Trump in the 2024 general election.
“Kamala Harris is a Baptist, but growing up, she also attended Hindu services with her mom, her husband is Jewish, and let me tell you something, that’s huge,” Morris said.
“Here’s why. Because if she’s going to beat Donald Trump, she’s gonna need all the help she can get.
“She gonna need the help of every single God she can get, okay. I’m talking Yahweh, you got Allah, you need Jesus, Oprah, all the big Gods.”
However, Morris was most excited about is the prospect of a first man. If Harris is elected president, her husband Douglas Emhoff would be the first to take on the role. The 59-year-old became the first-ever second gentleman of the United States when Harris became Vice President in 2020.
Sharing a photograph of Emhoff with the audience, Morris dubbed the attorney “a stud.”
“That’s Doug, look at that,” Morris said. “Look at that young-a** pimp, look at that player.”
