Jennifer Love Hewitt Shows Never-Before-Seen Photo of Her 3 Children on New Book Cover
Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
Jennifer Love Hewitt has given fans a deeply personal glimpse into her life with the release of her memoir, Inheriting Magic: My Journey Through Grief, Joy, Celebration, and Making Every Day Magical. For the first time, she introduces her and husband Brian Hallisay’s three children to the public on the book’s cover.
In the cover image, the 9-1-1 actress is seen wielding a wand and spellbook as her children—Autumn James, 10, Atticus James, 8, and Aidan James, 2—join her in a charming, magical pose.
“It was the most stressful decision to show our kids or not show them,” Hewitt disclosed to E! News. “But my husband and I felt like we couldn’t really tell our story without knowing who they are and how they have made our lives so full and magical.”
Inheriting Magic delves into the actress’s private experiences of loss and joy, particularly following the death of her mother, Patricia Hewitt, in 2012.
“My kids also saved me in grief,” she remarked. “They are gifts from my mom and have filled our hearts in such an incredible way. This book is for them!”
The memoir also explores the mom of three’s approach to creating memorable moments for her family and friends. “I felt healed enough from losing my mom to finally be able to write about it,” she explained. “I also have seen how creating little bits of magic for my kids and friends makes our memories and everyday lives special. I wanted to honor my mom and how much being a mom means to me and this felt like the best way.”
Hewitt, 45, is eager for her fans to see a side of her that goes beyond her public persona. “The real me. The mom me and not just the public version which has been so much of my life,” she shared. Her writing process was therapeutic, helping her reach “a greater place of healing.”
The actress also hinted at the future direction of her brand, The Holiday Junkie, saying, “I wanted to show why I am that person and how it’s a mindset and way of life, not just a brand.” The book promises to include insights into birthday parties, holidays, planning tips, and cherished family recipes, providing a fuller picture of her life away from the cameras.
Inheriting Magic is set to be released on December 10, but is available for pre-order on Amazon now.
