‘It Was A Fair Result’ – Troost-Ekong Reacts To Super Eagles Stalemate Vs Benin Republic
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong claimed the Super Eagles deserved a point from their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday five encounter against Benin Republic.
The Cheetahs took the lead through Mohammed Tijani in the 16th minute.
Gernot Rohr’s men had other chances to double their lead but were let down their poor marksmanship.
Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen however equalised for Nigeria eight minutes from time.
Troost-Ekong stated that the Super Eagles deserved a share of the spoils.
“It was a fair result and we’re very happy to have qualified and remain unbeaten in this campaign,” the centre-back said after the game.
“We were a bit unlucky with their goal because the person missing in the far post was Victor Osimhen and he was at the other end of the pitch.”
