Internet in Love With Dog So Excited for Toy Ball He ‘Trembles’

One dog’s visible expression of excitement has been caught on camera while he eagerly waited for his owner to throw the ball.

In a video with 4.2 million views on Instagram, one-year-old Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Tycho was shaking with excitement anticipating a game of fetch in the water.

Tycho’s owner Dee frequently visits the Whitewater Center in their home of Charlotte, North Carolina, and shared that Tycho’s trembles are a common sight whenever they play fetch, especially in the water. “He gets the excited trembles mostly when we play fetch in the water. For the longest time, I thought he was cold, but even in 90-degree weather, he did this. So I looked it up and found out they were excited trembles,” she told Newsweek.

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, often simply called a “Toller,” is a breed known for its energy and enthusiasm. Originating in Canada, they were bred for hunting, luring and retrieving waterfowl—making a game of catch in the water a perfect activity.

Tollers are known to get highly excited, especially when anticipating activities they love, such as playing fetch or swimming.

“I wanted to share because I remembered that ‘have you ever had a Red Bull’ audio and thought it would be perfect for this clip,” Dee said.

The popular sound has gained viral attention being used over various clips of excited people and animals as the voice quickly and excitedly says: “Have you ever had a Red Bull? I never had Red Bull before but I had a Red Bull last night and I really like Red Bull.”

“With social media, you never know what’s going to go viral, and it was really the case with this video. We share mostly to look back on our memories with Tycho, but it was fun to see that people resonated with this video or thought it was funny,” Dee said.

Comments on the video poured in as people reacted to Tycho’s excitement.

“I can quit anytime I want,” joked adambrewer23. While Rebekah_christine said: “The ball is crack. My dog is a crack addict. I have tried to max him out on fetch and had to stop the experiment due to concerns for his health. Concluded that he would run himself to the ground chasing that high.”

Some commenters suggested that maybe Tycho was cold because of the trembling resemblance, but Dee reassured concerned viewers he was not. “Some people commented to put a towel on him because they thought he was cold, but I can assure you it was a warm 90-degree day, and he was not cold. He’s also double-coated, so he has that extra layer,” she said.
