Injury crisis hits India Football Team camp ahead of Malaysia friendly

Mohun Bagan ace midfielder Anirudh Thapa and Mumbai City FC forward Vikram Pratap Singh pull out of India camp with injuries

The India Football Team will miss the services of Anirudh Thapa and Vikram Pratap Singh for their upcoming friendly game. India is slated to take on Malaysia for a friendly encounter in Hyderabad on 18th November during the International break. However, both Thapa and Vikram have been released from the training camp after suffering injuries.

Anirudh Thapa suffered an injury during the latest Mohun Bagan vs Odisha FC match in the Indian Super League. As a result, the ace midfielder won’t be traveling to Hyderabad. He has thus been released by the AIFF to recover. The same is the case with Mumbai City FC forward Vikram Pratap Singh.

However, Thoiba Singh has received his call-up to the squad. The defensive midfielder is selected as a replacement for the Mohun Bagan midfielder. There will, however, be no replacements for the young forward.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) took to social media to inform about the injuries and the changes in personnel in the camp. The national camp begins on 11th November in Hyderabad with 25 players. It is believed that the final 23-member squad will be announced by head coach Manolo Marquez a couple of days prior to the international friendly.

Due to injuries, midfielder Anirudh Thapa & forward Vikram Partap Singh will not join the National Team camp. Thoiba Singh will replace the former in the camp that begins today in Hyderabad. We wish Anirudh and Vikram a speedy recovery,” the AIFF said.
