Ikorodu City coach confident ahead of Enyimba clash
Ahead of their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday nine encounter with Enyimba FC, Ikorodu City FC’s interim head coach, Nurudeen Aweroro, is optimistic about earning a positive result. The “Oga Boys” will face the “People’s Elephant” at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday, October 29, 2024.
Aweroro, who recently took over as interim head coach, expressed confidence in his squad following their 4-2 triumph over Lobi Stars. Speaking to the press, Aweroro emphasised that the team will focus on one game at a time to maintain consistency.
“We have confidence in all the players in the team, not just those currently on the pitch,” he said.
The coach noted the importance of squad rotation, recognising the demands of a long season.
“It’s one game after the other. The same player cannot finish all 38 matches. We just have to rotate and give all our players a chance to perform.”
Facing Enyimba FC, a team with nine league titles, will be a major test for Ikorodu City FC, who are in their first season in the NPFL. However, the Lagos-based club will be buoyed by their recent success against Lobi Stars and aim to build on that momentum.
While Enyimba is determined to close the gap at the top of the table, Ikorodu City FC will be eager to prove that they can compete with the league’s best. A positive result in Aba could provide the “Oga Boys” with a significant boost as they continue their campaign.
Sunday’s match promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams determined to earn maximum points and make a statement.
