Horror as Dog Returns From Backyard—No One Prepared for What’s in His Mouth

An owner in a recent video posted to TikTok was horrified to see what her dog held in his mouth while the pup was waiting to be let back inside the house.

Dark and late at night with no lights on to see her dog right outside the door, TikTok user @pjmongold was spooked in the June 12 video. All she saw was a white figure that appeared to be floating until it finally clicked that her dog was holding a skeleton in his mouth.

With a million questions running through her mind, she didn’t know what to do. She explained in a separate TikTok video that the family dogs get let out into a fenced-in backyard, but with it being a large fence, other animals do not come in and out.

Somehow an animal skeleton ended up in their backyard and before she found it, the dog discovered it. Parading back to the house, he wanted to show off his prize.

Like how most people would respond, the owner was freaking out and calling to her husband who was already in bed. As much as the dog was thrilled about his finding, the owner said he immediately felt embarrassed when coming back inside.

The next day she went outside to try and figure out where the dog found the skeleton. She couldn’t find any areas where the dog might’ve dug out the skeleton. That’s when theories started circling.

One theory she has about where the skeleton came from is that it’s from a bird. She thinks the bird flew around with the skeleton in its mouth and it dropped right into their yard. But the truth will never be known.

Newsweek has reached out to @pjmongold via TikTok for additional information.

TikTok Users React

The unbelievable TikTok clip left people’s jaws on the floor. As of Saturday afternoon, it amassed over 785,500 views and 13,500 likes.

“Your doggo is an archeologist. Congrats!” joked one TikTok user, while another claimed the dog to be a “paleontologist.”

One user commented: “At first I couldn’t see the dog and thought you had a ghost animal at your door,” which is exactly what the owner thought too.

TikTok users were taking their best guesses on what animal skeleton the dog was holding. Many believed it to be from a deer, specifically the “deer pelvis and part of the spine/ribcage.” Someone floated the idea of a large raccoon, but the owner thought it could’ve been an antelope as well.
