Hoops face huge task in Germany
Celtic will look to make it two wins in a row in the Champions League on Tuesday when they face Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
It is obviously a huge ask for the Scottish champions to topple last season’s Champions League finalists as they have a shocking record away from home in the competition, but they come into the match in stupendous form.
Match Preview
Dortmund Recent Form
Dortmund’s form under new head coach Nuri Sahin has been up and down as they went unbeaten in their first five games of the season across the German Cup, Champions League and Bundesliga.
Things came crashing down for BVB last weekend when they suffered a shock 5-1 away loss at Stuttgart.
They looked to be heading for another loss at the weekend, but showed resilience to come back and beat Bochum 4-2 after going behind.
Dortmund Injury News
Marcel Sabitzer missed the Bochum game due to a knock but should be available for selection here.
Giovani Reyna remains out and has been since the international break.
Last Dortmund Lineup
Here’s how Dortmund lined up against Bochum.
Celtic Recent Form
Celtic are one of the most in-form teams in Europe currently as they have won all eight of their matches across all competitions so far.
They have defeated Kilmarnock, Hibernian, St Mirren, Rangers, Hearts and St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership, while Hibs and Falkirk have been swept aside in the League Cup.
On Champions League Matchday One, they secured their biggest-ever win in the competition, beating Slovan Bratislava 5-1 at Celtic Park.
Celtic Injury News
The biggest concern for Brendan Rodgers surrounds Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has not been involved in Celtic’s last two games due to a foot problem. The club will do everything possible to ensure he is fit to play.
Last Celtic Lineup
Here’s how Celtic lined up against St Johnstone.
Dortmund – Player To Watch
Injuries have meant that Serhou Guirassy’s Dortmund career has taken a while to get going, but he has burst into life recently with four goals in his last four games for BVB, including two at the weekend against Stuttgart.
Celtic – Player To Watch
Daizen Maeda is in superb form for Celtic and will be a nightmare for any full-back due to his electric pace and relentless pressing. If the Hoops find themselves under pressure, he’ll be a vital outlet down that left wing.
Dortmund vs Celtic – Prediction
More often than not, it has been a given recently that Celtic will lose away in the Champions League. The Slovan Bratislava win suggests they are better equipped this season to deal with matches at the top level, but this fixture will prove to be a good indicator of where they are at under Rodgers.
Scoreline prediction – Dortmund 2-2 Celtic
