Hilarious Reason Owner Asks if Golden Retriever Might Be ‘Dying’

A woman has shared how her dog’s development has left her feeling concerned about his health.

Britt, known online as @whata_bout_winston, took to social media to voice her worries about her golden retriever’s well-being. The California-based content creator shared that her 1-year-old former “demon’s” transition, from a mischievous puppy into a calm and quiet dog, has on multiple occasions led to her panicking that Winston may in fact not be feeling well.

“He was a demon of a puppy and even more demon of an adolescent,” Britt said. “In the last couple of months, he is definitely coming into his adulthood.”

“This is what he looks like 90 percent of the time,” the creator added, while viewers caught a glimpse of Winston snoozing on the couch behind her.

“This is what I was looking forward to with having a dog,” Britt said. “They are just so cute and so sweet, but now that he is like this, at least four to five times a day I look at him and I’m like, are you sick? Are you dying?”

While some people may relate to Britt’s concern, dogs do settle down as they mature. Much like most children, pups also learn to behave in a calmer and more measured way more consistently as they age. A number of dog-owning viewers have reassured Britt of this and have shared their similar thoughts and experiences.

“Cannot wait to get to the other side I have a 9-month-old and we are struggling,” one user, @makeupbyyjade, commented.

Another, @rachael_mullins, added: “My golden just like randomly chilled out one day around 1.5 to 2. Like, no more pulling on leashes, sits at restaurants nicely, just happy existing.”

“Our retriever just passed. He was almost 14. This is totally normal. They become total chill snuggle bears,” a third user, @bearcules, shared.

Another, @romikagunn, added: “I paid $250 for the vet to tell me he was in fact, happy and healthy,”

Still, of the almost 1 million viewers that have watched Britt’s April 23 post, some have shared experiences that differ from the norm.

“Yours stopped at 2. Mine is going on 4 and still a menace,” one user, @flozzledozzle, wrote. Another, @irishbeauty44, added: “Mine stopped at 8 [years] old.”
