Group of Friends in Their 20s Pose for Picture, but There’s a Twist
What happens when the friendship group in your 20s starts multiplying? Lean into the village life, one woman says.
A video posted to TikTok by Casey and Kaci Driggers (@caseyandkaci) has gone viral for revealing the way their friend group is changing in a group photo—with the addition of six children and counting. Kaci Driggers, 26, told Newsweek about the friends’ journey together and what it means to have children who are growing up together. Since the footage was posted on June 7, it has received more than 14.5 million views and over 1.6 million likes.
“When the friend group keeps growing,” the Driggers wrote in the caption, which revealed the original group of friends before the addition of their children.
Driggers said the friendship group involves her and her husband, and three other couples: Hunter and Devin; Dylan and Shelby; and Taylor and Sophia. All of the friends are between 20 and 29 years old. The group originally came together over TikTok.
“Our friendship started when Devin reached out to me after seeing a viral video of ours, and we planned to meet up after learning we lived only three hours apart,” Driggers said. “We quickly realized how alike we were in personality, values, faith, etc.”
After meeting Hunter and Devin, other couples “similar” to the four began going viral on TikTok, Driggers said. Some reached out to the Driggers as they grew more popular. “After meeting everyone in person, we immediately hit it off and we’ve been extremely close since then,” she said.
Driggers and her husband had the first two children of the group, who are now 4 and 5 years old. Afterwards, four more children were born within the group. Now, two more are on the way—and Driggers’ video served as the official announcement for one of them, showing the group of friends touching their friend Shelby’s belly.
‘Having a Village is Beyond Important’
Driggers said the introduction of children into the friends’ group has been “the greatest blessing and joy.” Some of the women in the group have even gone through pregnancies alongside each other. Driggers said she and Sophia had similar due dates and bonded over the experience. They ended up delivering just five weeks apart.
There are many ways their lives continue to overlap. Driggers said she was a bridesmaid for Sophia and Taylor’s wedding. Her children helped teach Shelby and Dylan’s son how to take his first steps.
The friends are intent on sharing values and strategies as they navigate young parenthood.
“Having a village is beyond important to Casey and I,” Driggers said. “We’ve been blessed with a supportive family and now a supportive friend group. We’ve held each other’s hands during pregnancies, major life events, financial decisions, serious health issues and the in-between.
“I believe that we weren’t created to do this thing alone, so finding your village is crucial and we are more than thankful for ours.”
