Europa League Prediction and Preview

Man Utd are strong favourites at home to PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Caretaker boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has enjoyed two positive results since taking over temporarily following the sacking of Erik ten Hag, and with Ruben Amorim waiting patiently to take over, the Dutchman will fancy his charges to claim an easy three points in Europe this week before he relinquishes the reins at Old Trafford.

Match Preview

Man Utd Recent Form

Since Ten Hag left, Van Nistelrooy has taken charge of two matches – the 5-2 demolition of Leicester in the League Cup and this past weekend’s 1-1 home draw with Chelsea.

Prior to that for United, they lost 2-1 against West Ham in the league and it was that result that cost Ten Hag his job.

In the Europa League, the Red Devils have drawn three in a row versus Twente, Porto and Fenerbahce.

Man Utd Injury News

Kobbie Mainoo, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Antony and Leny Yoro are all still injured, though Mason Mount has returned to full training, even if this match may come too soon for him to feature.

Christian Eriksen has missed the last two games and remains a doubt.

PAOK Recent Form

PAOK have collected just one point from their Europa League campaign so far thanks to a 2-2 draw against Viktoria Plzen last time out, with losses against Galatasaray and FCSB preceding that.

In the Greek Super League, they are second in the table and beat Lamia 2-1 at the weekend.

PAOK Injury News

The biggest injury concern for PAOK is former Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko who will miss out.

Dejan Lovren, Mbwana Samatta and Vierinha have not been included in the Europa League squad.

Former Man Utd youngster Shola Shoretire could feature.

Man Utd – Player To Watch

Bruno Fernandes will return for United following his Europa League suspension, and he is already enjoying life without Ten Hag with three goals in his last two games, having previously failed to score this season.

PAOK – Player To Watch

Stefan Schwab is PAOK’s leading goalscorer this campaign with four in 10 games in the league.

Man Utd vs PAOK – Prediction

PAOK have been extremely poor in the Europa League so far, and although United haven’t been impressive either, the Red Devils have more than enough the blow the visitors away at Old Trafford, especially with the Ten Hag cloud now lifted.
