Dortmund vs Atletico Madrid Predicted Lineups
Borussia Dortmund host Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between the sides on Tuesday.
In the first leg a week ago, Atletico won 2-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano. Rodrigo De Paul and Samuel Lino both scored in the first half for the hosts, but Sebastien Haller netted in the last 10 minutes to give Dortmund hope heading into the second leg.
Here’s how the respective squads are shaping up heading into the second leg.
Dortmund Team News
Haller picked up a knock in the weekend’s game versus Gladbach in the first half so it is looking unlikely he’ll feature here, which means a start for Donyell Malen.
In more positive news for BVB, Jadon Sancho should be available for selection after recovering from an illness that saw him miss the Gladbach fixture.
Ramy Bensebaini is out with a knee problem.
With Haller absent, Niclas Fullkrug will lead the line, while Julian Brandt is pushing for a start, potentially at the expense of Felix Nmecha.
Fullkrug may not have lit up the Champions League so far, but he has been Dortmund’s main attacking threat in the Bundesliga, with 11 goals and eight assists.
Atletico Team News
Diego Simeone made a raft of changes to his team for the 3-1 victory against Girona, so a lot of players are set to return fresh for this one.
Jose Gimenez, Marcos Llorente, Axel Witsel, Lino and Alvaro Morata will all likely return.
Key player: Atletico
Antoine Griezmann has scored six goals in the Champions League this season and scored two against Girona so is firing on all cylinders heading in to face BVB.
Dortmund vs Atletico lineups
Dortmund (4-3-3): Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen; Sabitzer, Can, Brandt; Sancho, Fullkrug, Malen.
Atletico (3-5-2): Oblak; Witsel, Gimenez, Savic; Molina, Llorente, Koke, De Paul, Lino; Griezmann, Morata.
