Dodgers Reportedly Will Have To Endure Without Fan Favorite In First Half Of 2025
The Los Angeles Dodgers have arguably the most talented roster in the league and are poised for another run at the World Series title in 2025.
Most of the Dodgers’ championship roster is returning next season, so Los Angeles should be in good shape to become the first team to win back-to-back championships since the New York Yankees’ three-peat from 1998-2000.
Unfortunately, the Dodgers bullpen will be without one of their most reliable hurlers come opening day after his latest injury report.
“Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Brusdar Graterol had right shoulder labrum surgery on Nov. 14 performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache,” the organization announced Friday. “He’s expected to return to the mound in the second half of the 2025 regular season.”
Graterol has logged an 11-9 record with a 2.78 ERA, 148-to-42 strikeout-to-walk ratio, .227 batting average against and a 1.04 WHIP throughout his six-season career, during which he pitched for the Minnesota Twins and Dodgers.
The 26-year-old pitched only 7 1/3 innings in the big leagues for the Dodgers last season due to his unstable right shoulder. Despite several attempts to return to the show, Graterol couldn’t overcome his ailment.
The Venezuelan-born reliever quickly became a fan favorite among the Dodgers fan base after joining the team in 2020, helping Los Angeles win its seventh World Series title.
It’s uncompromising news for the Dodgers to hear that Graterol will miss half of the 2025 season but at least he should be available for another deep playoff run.
