Disturbing details revealed about serial stabbing suspect Jared Ravizza
A Martha’s Vineyard resident accused of a stabbing spree in the South Shore of Massachusetts over the Memorial Day weekend is also a suspect in a homicide investigation in Connecticut.
Jared Ravizza, 26, appeared in a Plymouth courtroom Tuesday, for arraignment on charges of assault with intent to murder at least six people, including four girls in a movie theater, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and indecent exposure.
Ravizza, who is from Chilmark on Martha’s Vineyard, was arrested Saturday night after a wild police pursuit.
Ravizza allegedly walked into the AMC Braintree 10 movie theater around 6 p.m. Saturday and went into one of the theaters without paying, according to the Braintree Police Department’s press release.
The girls, whose ages range from 9 to 17, were watching the movie “If” when an individual suddenly attacked them “without saying anything and without any warning” before running out.
Ravizza was allegedly laughing during the attack.
They all were transported to a Boston hospital for treatment after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, the police said.
The Braintree Police patrol officers and detectives were able to “quickly review video footage and retrace the suspect’s movements.”
Footage showed Ravizza had allegedly left the AMC in a black SUV. The video also captured a license plate number.
Another stabbing at McDonald’s
Shortly after the Braintree Police Department made a broadcast to law enforcement, a car matching Ravizza’s was reportedly involved in a similar assault in Plymouth, almost 30 miles south of the theater.
At about 7 p.m., Ravizza allegedly approached the drive-thru window at a McDonald’s located off of Route 3 in Plymouth, according to the Plymouth Police Department.
“After dispute over payment, the male assaulted two employees with a knife,” the police statement says.
The Plymouth District Attorney’s Office said surveillance video from the McDonald’s restaurant appears to show Ravizza reaching through the drive-thru and stabbing the victims. She then leaves the drive-thru, parks her car, enters the restaurant and stabs the female victim. Ravizza then fled the rest area in his car.
Plymouth EMS transported a 28-year-old male and 21-year-old female to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both McDonald’s employees were in stable condition as of Tuesday, prosecutors said.
Massachusetts State Police then located Ravizza’s vehicle and a chase ensued. Ravizza ultimately crashed the car in the town of Sandwich, police said.
Ravizza was taken to South Shore hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Plymouth District Attorney’s office.
Connecticut murder connection
Shortly after, Connecticut State Police said they were also investigating Ravizza in connection to the death of a West Hartford man, Bruce Feldman.
Feldman’s body was found at a home in Deep River, Connecticut at 3:36 p.m. on Saturday.
State police were responding to a disturbance report on Merriwold Lane in Deep River, according to the state police’s press release.
“As suspect approached the residence on Merriwold Lane, (the suspect) threw a shovel through the front door windowpane and then left,” the report states.
The troopers learned of another disturbance prior to the shovel incident, which led them to 15 Maritone Lane, where Feldman was found outside with visible injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Feldman died of stab wounds to his torso and head.
The Connecticut State Police said criminal charges in Connecticut are pending.
Previous charges
Ravizza was previously arrested in April on Martha’s Vineyard and charged with assault and battery on a family or household member as well as vandalism after he allegedly attacked his father, as The Boston Globe reported.
Ravizza’s father had told officers Ravizza “had just had a mental break and attacked him.”
Ravizza apparently was sent to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for a mental health evaluation but “did not meet their standards to be held.”
According to the description on Instagram, jareeejones, Ravizza identifies as “she” and an “artist.”
