Dad Has Adorable Routine To Avoid 5-Year-Old’s Morning Outfit Stress
A delighted mom has shared with Newsweek how her fashionista husband prevents their perfectionist daughter’s daily tantrums over her school outfit choice.
Weekday mornings used to be a tense time as style-conscious five-year-old Penelope went into meltdown over what she wanted to wear, says Cindy Componovo, 39, an accountant and content creator from Boston, Massachusetts.
“She fought about her outfits…She loves dresses, playing dress-up and looking like a princess,” Cindy told Newsweek.
But dad Max Componovo, 52, found a clever way to ensure the school run gets off to a speedy start by offering a choice of outfits the night before.
And Cindy, 39, has posted a video of the routine which has gone viral on TikTok, amassing 255.4K likes. The clip shows four outfit choices: a pink flower power get-up, a preppy look with a polo dress with matching loafers, a barbie-inspired look and finally a BAPE sweater with red shoes.
In the video, Penelope watches her dad-turned-stylist at work from her pink armchair, sporting pink striped pyjamas, and eventually makes the important decision.
She says she approves of all the clothing choices but opts for the first one, featuring blue jeans embroidered with flowers, with a pink cardigan and Nike trainers.
Max, who works in security, then says on camera: “Okay, this is your final choice, and you’re going to lock it in. This is recorded for for quality assurance.”
The double act shakes on their decision, and dad assures his wife there will be no arguments in the morning.
Penelope explained: “My husband is Swiss Italian and he cares immensely about the way he dresses, so it just came naturally that our daughter is the exact same way, even at such a young age.
“They fought about outfits every morning, from day care to kindergarten. So after many mornings filled with tears and tantrums from both dad and daughter, he finally developed this method to streamline the mornings.”
“I also have a rule that I do not intercept when they both have meltdowns. I let them work it out together.”
TikTok users were impressed by the dad-daughter relationship and the video received 1,649 comments. Ana commented: “He was definitely made to be a girl dad like we love.”
Another added: “Dad is thriving as her personal stylist.”
Some eagle-eyed users noticed Penelope is wearing shoes that are different from her agreed choice, pink and white Nikes, during the negotiation the previous night.
One user commented: “I’m dying to know about the sneakers being different than the ones originally chosen. was there an argument?”
Cindy replied: “Small dispute. It was handled swiftly.”
