Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb Clarifies Intense Sideline Exchange With Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys picked up their second consecutive win against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, which came off a last-second touchdown from quarterback Dak Prescott. Despite the last-second win, the Cowboys appeared to be in some turmoil trying to get their offense going.

During the game, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and Prescott appeared to be out of sync, resulting in what looked like Lamb shouting at Prescott. The tense sideline exchange followed an interception that was thrown by Prescott, as he was targeting Lamb for a touchdown pass.

Lamb clarified what he said to Prescott, which has seemingly been blown out of proportion. While speaking to reporters, Lamb explained what was said.

Lamb tells reporters that he yelled, “Jump ball, four. I got you.”

The simple response that appeared to be tense was Lamb reminding Prescott that he needed to throw jump balls instead of targeting Lamb’s back shoulder. Lamb also indicated that he is taller than the Steelers player who secured the interception.

The Steelers player in question is cornerback Donte Jackson. Jackson is listed at 5-foot-10. Lamb, on the other hand, is 6-foot-2.

Lamb is one of the best wide receivers when it comes to contested catches, and Prescott should have known to throw the ball higher. That is not saying that Jackson cannot leap high enough to intercept the ball or make Lamb miss, but Lamb also has a better shot of jumping higher to secure the touchdown.

After the “tense” exchange occurred, media everywhere assumed there was some sort of rift that was developing between Lamb and Prescott. Prescott called the rumors of tension “comical.”

Despite the issues on offense, the Cowboys brought home the much-needed win. The team is now 3-2 on the season, having defeated both the Steelers in Week 5 and the New York Giants in Week 4.

Now, the Cowboys are set to face off against the Detroit Lions. This will be one of their biggest tests this season, and the team is already facing a reality where they are down another starter.

Star defenders Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence missed Week 5, and Lawrence has recently been placed on IR due to a foot injury. Parsons has a high ankle sprain and could return soon, but he has been limited during practice leading to Week 6.

Another potential hit to the Cowboys’ starters could be All-Pro guard Zack Martin. Martin missed practice on Wednesday due to load management, but he also missed Thursday with a back injury. If he misses Friday’s practice, his status for Week 6 might also be in danger.
