Cat Tries to Relax in New Toy but It Does Not Go as Planned

A cat owner recently surprised her kitties with a brand-new cat tree, but things didn’t quite go as planned—leaving the internet in stitches.

Maha, known on Instagram as @onetruedaydreamer, shared hilarious footage of her two cats enjoying different sections of their new cat tree.

In the video, her larger cat tries to nestle into a hood-shaped pod, but the entire structure topples over. The now-viral video has garnered 1,497,943 likes and 23.8 million views.

“I’d been eyeing this cute cat tree for so long and finally bought it (it was their first cat tree), but… it did not go as planned,” Maha captioned the post. “P.S. BOTH CATS ARE FINE!!”

In the clip, she films her cats relaxing in the tree before things take a sudden turn. The structure begins to tilt, and Maha quickly drops her phone to rescue her beloved pets, capturing a moment of panic and comedy all at once.

When selecting a cat tree, it’s important to consider the size of your cats and the stability of the structure.

According to experts, owners should look for a tree with a wider, heavier base that can accommodate your cat’s size.

A stable base ensures that even large cats can comfortably play, sleep, or scratch without the risk of tipping. If you have more than one cat, or larger breeds, it’s vital to invest in a tree with reinforced stability.

To prevent a cat tree from falling over, especially if it’s tall or used by heavier cats, it’s a good idea to secure it to a wall.

According to Catster, using safety straps or metal brackets to anchor the tree adds an extra layer of protection, ensuring that even if your cats jump or climb suddenly, the tree remains steady.

This simple precaution can help avoid accidents like the one Maha experienced, keeping both your pets and furniture safe.

Instagram users couldn’t get enough of Maha’s cats.

“That cat tree is too frail and dainty,” commented one viewer.

“THEY ARE SO CHONKY AND CUTE,” another user exclaimed.

“Good captains always go down with their ship… respect,” one person joked.

“OMG I SHOULD NOT BE LAUGHING,” said another user named Chiara.

“I respect dropping the phone to save the kitties,” another viewer added, acknowledging Maha’s heroic reflexes.

Though the tree toppled, the cats—and their owner’s quick-thinking instincts—made for a viral moment that’s brought joy and laughter to millions.
