Body found in boot in Ilford after concerns for Corby woman
A murder investigation has been launched after a woman’s body was found inside the boot of a vehicle.
Northamptonshire Police was contacted regarding a welfare concern for a woman in Corby, Northamptonshire, which led to the discovery of a body in Ilford, east London.
The death is being treated as suspicious and police activity will continue over the weekend in various locations, including Corby and Ilford, officers said.
Supt Steve Freeman, from the force, said it was a targeted incident and there was no wider risk to members of the public.
Northamptonshire Police was contacted on 13 November by a member of the public regarding a concern for the welfare of a woman. Further inquiries led to the discovery of the body.
Supt Freeman said: “Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team and the Metropolitan Police have been working at pace to establish the circumstances that led to the woman’s death.
“Although we believe that this was a targeted incident and there is no wider risk to members of the public, extra patrols will be taking place in Corby in the coming days for reassurance purposes.”
Police have asked anyone who may have information to contact them.
