Big gun Villans enter the Cup

Aston Villa are competing on multiple fronts this season due to their participation in the Champions League, but still have League Cup duties to contend with, starting this week against Wycombe.

Unai Emery’s outfit enter the competition late due to their European exploits, and they face an in-form Wycombe side.

Match Preview

Wycombe Recent Form

Wycombe made a poor start to the season with two losses in a row against Wrexham and Birmingham. However, they have recovered well to go four unbeaten, winning three of those.

They have won two consecutive games against Northampton and then Cambridge.

To reach the Third Round of the League Cup, they beat Northampton and Swansea.

Expect Emery to make widespread changes with the likes of Leon Bailey, Ian Maatsen, Ross Barkley, Emiliano Buendia, and Jhon Duran getting minutes.

Jhon Duran has been a supersub for Villa this season as he has four goals off the bench. But, he’ll be an undoubted starter here in for Ollie Watkins and he’ll be eager to prove he deserves more starts.
