Beloved Former WWE Superstar Reveals Hall of Fame Dreams

The WWE Hall of Fame is home to some of the most prestigious names in professional wrestling history.

The Hall of Fame is filled with countless former WWE Champions who are considered some of the most prestigious names in the history of the sport, including Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Eddie Guerrero, and Pedro Morales.

That being said, a majority of inductees have never claimed the promotion’s top prize, including Gorilla Monsoon, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, and Rick Rude.

Now, another former superstar is looking forward to a potential induction.

In a recent interview with Gabby LaSpisa on the ‘Gabby AF’ podcast, former WWE Superstar and current AEW star Shelton Benjamin revealed that he hopes to one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame after spending about 16 years with the company.

“It would be a nice touch to the end of a long career,” Benjamin said. “Will it happen? Shawn Michaels said they would hold a spot open for me and things like that.”

Benjamin further elaborated that, despite leaving WWE for AEW, he still has love for his former promotion.

“I’m a bit of a WWE product. I was discovered by them. I was trained by them. Most people know me from them. It’s not a situation where, because I’m with AEW now, I am anti-WWE. I am absolutely not that. I do not believe in tribalism as a performer between companies.”

“Whether I’m wrestling for WWE, AEW, IMPACT, New Japan, I’m wrestling. This is what I do and this is my craft. If I can’t apply my craft [in one] place, I go to another. As a performer, there is no time for tribalism.”

Benjamin continued to live out this dream by naming who he would like to induct him into the Hall of Fame.

“Probably, my first thought, Kurt Angle,” Benjamin said. “That’s my first thought for induction. Now, possibly MVP. Arn Anderson. Gerald Brisco. People that really helped me get there.”

“There are a few candidates, but number one would be Kurt,” Benjamin added. “He helped introduce me to the world and his name helped catapult me to the immediate public eye and notoriety. That would be my first choice.”

Throughout his career, Benjamin has been an incredible in-ring talent and involved in some of the best factions in WWE history.

Additionally, he has won countless titles, including the WWE Intercontinental Championship (three times), the WWE United States Championship, and the WWE Tag Team Championship (three times).

There’s no doubt that the Gold Standard belongs in the WWE Hall of Fame.
