AFCON 2025Q: Osimhen Equals Odegbami’s Super Eagles Scoring Feat
Victor Osimhen scored against Benin Republic to rescue a 1-1 draw for the Super Eagles on matchday 5 of the AFCON 2025 on Thursday.
The Eagles had to come from.behind to force the 1-1 draw in their fifth group game in Abidjan.
After Mohamed Tijani had given Benin the lead Osimhen fired in a header to draw the Eagles level.
It was Osimhen’s 23rd goal in the Eagles and has now equaled the legendary Segun Odegbami at second place in the all time top scorer in the senior men’s national team.
At first place is the late Rashidi Yekini who scored 37 goals in the Super Eagles.
Osimhen will now look to add to his Super Eagles tally when they host Rwanda on matchday 6 on Monday in Uyo.
