Aaron Rodgers Hints at Being Reunited With Davante Adams
Aaron Rodgers might be in the twilight years of his NFL career, but that has not stopped the quarterback from attempting to lure in star talent to help the New York Jets take a run at a Super Bowl. Rodgers was recently interviewed on a golf course, where he dropped a little nugget of a rumor stating that he can’t wait to link up with former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams again.

Rodgers is walking when he is asked about Luke Getsy, the current offensive coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders. When Rodgers is asked about whether Getsy will utilize Adams properly, he responds with, “I love Luke Getsy, he’s a fantastic coach. And I love Davante, I can’t wait to play with him…again.”
Though Rodgers is initially heaping praise at Getsy, who worked with Rodgers between the 2014 and 2017 seasons, he quickly states that he can’t wait to play with Adams again. Though this could have just been a throwaway response, this wouldn’t be the first time that Rodgers has used his status to convince teams to bring along receivers he likes.
Rodgers was instrumental in convincing the Packers to trade for receiver Randall Cobb in 2021 after he had left the team for a small stint with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. Even when Rodgers left to play for the Jets, he was able to bring Cobb along with him.
The additional video on the above X page is also from “The Kay Adams Show,” when host Kay Adams is speaking to Davante. She asks, “Are you telling me he [Rodgers] is not getting in your ear and saying, ‘Hey, I want to play with you again?'”
Adams responds with, “Oh, he’s in that ear, that’s for sure … It’s not as easy…”
Whether or not Adams is referring to the Cobb situation, he is more likely alluding to being under contract with the Raiders. He signed a five-year, $140 million deal in the Spring of 2022, meaning he is still under contract until 2026.
The Jets would have to pull off a huge trade if they were to attempt to land Adams. He is still a top-level receiver and one of the cornerstones of the Raiders’ offense. Rodgers may want to work with his former star pass catcher, but that might not be as easy as it was when he asked for Cobb to be acquired.
Still, if the Jets were somehow able to trade for Adams, their offense would be incredible. The team already has receivers Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams, along with running back Breece Hall. Adding Adams would turn this offense into one of the best in the NFL.
